Feng Shui Kitchen & Dining Tips:

Tip:1

Keeping the kitchen clean and orderly makes for good Feng shui. Make sure to clear countertops of clutter often, keeping things from piling up is essential to good Chi. Look to organize and purge if there are many of the same things, work at purging unnecessary excess. Afterall, how many spatulas does one really need? Repurpose bookshelves for extra organization.

Tip:2

Invest in quality essential cookware. Rather than replacing cheaper non-stick pans, invest in a more enduring cast iron variety. Look to purchase other skillets that have a (non-toxic) teflon coating and will not flake off into your food, or stainless steel varieties.

Tip:3

Colors rejuvenate- fresh yellows, beige and a variety of pastel shades work nicely in kitchens. Keeping fresh hues on the walls and linens make for a clean and fresh feel throughout. Bring color in with flower bouquets and paintings. Fruit and florals are symbolic of abundance and good health, they work nicely in the kitchen and dining rooms.

Tip :4

Make everyone comfortable. Good Feng shui practice, keeps comfort and usability in mind. Can everyone sit at the dining room table easily? If it's crammed into a corner, probably not...Round or oval tables are ideal. If you have a rectagular table, rounded edges are preferred. Be sure to pull the table out from the walls with a nice walk-a-around for healthy Feng Shui. Make sure to pick high back seating for good support and padding for a comfy seat. If the eating environment is supported for a great experience, family and friends will stay longer, enjoy more and you will create more lasting memories together!

Tip :5

The view matters, keep it bright. Make sure when cooking at the stove, or washing in the sink that there is a clear line of sight to others, "the Command Position". If possible add a small mirror to reflect what is behind you and to lighten up dark areas. A small salt lamp or candle is a great addition to the kitchen, as is an illuminated oil diffuser.

Tip :6

Elements encourage health and harmony in the kitchen. The kitchen is considered to have an inherent fire energy, limiting the wood elements can help because wood fuels fire. If the health of the inhabitants in the house is of concern, it is advisable to add more water elements. Feng Shui practitioners will encourage adding objects such as, glass objects, mirrors, meandering patterns, portraits of water or furnishings with blues and blacks. Look to each element when deciding which to nourish, subdue or strengthen for your particular needs.

I hope you enjoy!
