Design a beverage station for Feng Shui living

tea on table with floral arrangement

For those of you who love to wake up to the fresh aroma of coffee brewing, or the sweet essence of harmony within a toasty mug of herbal tea, you are in luck! It’s as easy as carving out a small nook within your kitchen or dining room. Heck, you may even have an unused breezeway or corner that is just perfect for such a spot! For the decorating side of things, you can embrace the coffee house vibe, or put-up shelving for putting your favorite things on display. Let the things you love the most be within easy reach, so that you can embrace the serene moments that fuel the day, or relax the night away.

General Tips:

1. Decide if you want to hang shelving up to store and display coffee/tea items. Did you know that hanging visual items that are pleasing in a vertical arrangement can have an uplifting effect on your mood? It’s true, keeping your thoughts more uplifted is key to a happier life and just plain good feng shui!

2. Add in the elements. Intermingle wood textures, creamy whites and neutrals, as well as fresh plants that billow down from one or two of the shelves. Contrasting textures and shapes are a great way to start building the essence of you! Try faux mixed with real greenery. Utilize great ceramic and pottery pieces that speak to you and pretty cutting boards, saucers and dishware for display.

3. Contain the clutter. No one wants to see cords hanging and tangled, or general piles of items that have no home. Look for ways to fold cords behind appliances and store large, unnecessary one’s in cabinets. Invest in some sturdy baskets to stow away easily and take back out when needed items. Clearing some counter space is just the thing to make room for your new beverage station.  This lets you focus on the star of the show, the coffeemaker, carafe or kettle.

4. The mood of the space. Here is where you decide what you want to feel when you take a well needed moment to savor your mug of choice. If what you’re going for is a jolt of wakeup, then it’s essential to spice up the spot with a pop of color, such as yellow, blue or bold patterns to awaken your senses. On the other hand, if you just need a restful retreat from time to time, look to infuse gentle and serene art, mild colors and soothing textiles.

5. Decide if you would like to create a seating area to cozy up to the counter or not. Many sizes and shapes are available now, hence counter height stools. This can easily be brought over to the beverage nook and set aside when not necessary.
