Your Home Office Reworked
Don't get stuck facing the wall!
"Nobody puts Baby in the corner!"
Too old a reference?
Maybe, but seriously though...
Your Home Office Reworked:
Does your office feel a little stale, are you staring at the wall, trying to feel more motivated to actually work in the space? If you can't seem to feel creative, get bored quick, and find your mind wandering, it's time to rework your office space and renew your productivity! Interestingly, one key change can be as simple as redirecting your position within your office space.
You are not alone either, in fact, linked to Feng Shui, there are incredible benefits of being in a, "commanding position," as you feel more in control with a solid and strong backing, literally speaking, a wall behind you! What that really means, intuitively is that no one can come and sneak up on you unaware.
Jumpy, are you? Not in your new, refreshed office...No way!
Think about moving that desk around differently. Push the desk out away from the wall. It can be at an angle to spice things up, or centered for those who like symmetry. This adds so much more versatility, frees up storage space all around the room, and will help with more motivation for work with a better flow.
Better to face that doorway, especially if you've just binge watched Steven King movies, that clown gets me every time, Eeeek...
In all reality though, having your back to a doorway makes for a much harder time to consistently sustain longer periods of concentration. Whether it be the obstructed view with limited peripheral, or background noises, when your aimed in the right direction, it can make a huge difference.
3 Easy Tips to Rework Your office
Plus, we've worked in some Feng Shui too!
Free up the wall
Add some shelving, books, art pieces, plants and instantly warm up your work zone. With a renewed space, you are free to add extra seating; bring in larger potted plants, cozy blankets, and anything else that suits your space. With more storage space comes, better organization with a streamlined work setting. Adding a warmer feel in any office space, just makes it a place you'd like to stay in longer.
Furthermore, you can easily add supportive career, water elements, such as black and dark blue colors, and some metal accents to enhance organization and planning abilities, as well.
Think business casual. If you are on a virtual meeting, no need to green screen that background any longer, but you can still wear those cozy slippers!
Better view
One of the best ways to redecorate an office space, is by finding the best view. Consider, moving your desk into an area of the room that gives you the best view, the kind that gets your zest for creativity going! There's nothing like seeing nature out your window, but if your view is less than desirable, potted plants on your window sill gives a similar effect. Next, hang some shelving, or a bookcase behind your chair and utilize it for additional office supplies, gadgets, or inspirational items.
In addition, you can even put plants on the shelf and create an indoor garden! I like to include, potted bamboo (Lucky Bamboo), as it is said to open a person up to the free flowing energies, that are beneficial to good health. You could include baskets and keepsakes, or items you've wanted to display. Whatever you choose for your extra storage, it's your choice.
Isn't it great to have choices?
I love finding nooks to decorate and changeout each holiday season, this is a perfect place to start.
The dreaded cord!
Cords, ughhhhh... Don't even get me started. I know, they just get in the way, tangle all up and frankly, start to look like a fire hazard. Plus, they are just plain ugly, right?! Moreover, if your attention is drawn to something that negatively impacts you it will inevitably lead to poor concentration! Anyone who really knows me, knows how I like to hide all that is unsightly, cords all over the place, just don't help. But even if you don't happen to have an outlet in the floor, you can utilize extension plugs, or other gadgets that help untangle and manage that mess! There are all sorts of choices out there to choose from. I love to look to Amazon for tons of choices, and great price points! So, I have handpicked my favorites to share with Ya'll! You'll be surprised just how much better the Feng Shui energy will feel, making your work space more streamlined and organized. And without that dreaded cord situation! Plus, it makes for rearranging in ways you thought you just couldn't get away with because of those uglies.
In conclusion,
extra wall space equals a better view, and streamlining the cords-all make for a fantastic, "Reworked" office space!"
Try adding additional natural elements to further your career & your life goals.
Feng Shui Tips For The Office:
A well lit hallway is said to promote career and finances, so make sure to have adequate lighting both leading up to your office, but also in your office as well. Task lighting, overhead lighting, and natural light are all crucial to quality work and energetic productivity. These may seem like obvious tips, but over time many people forget to assess their needs, pushing through the every day in haphazard ways can become common, poor habits. Struggling to see in dimly lit rooms, hunched over, can take a terrible toll on your back and neck, as well as digestion and anxiety levels, to name a few.
Colors are Beneficial
Colors can have a great impact and liven up a space, your office should be no different. Many people stick to white walls in the office area, sometimes putting little thought into the room, leaving it a sort of catchall. Consider, adding pops of color, such a soft lavender, or other symbolically fire colors which are proponents of financial growth and intelligence in Feng Shui.
Repurpose That Catchall room
Take some time to declutter, repurpose things and get the work zone feeling like it has a place in your home. If your work area is displaced and chaotic, how clear are your goals, tasks and focus abilities? To better determine what you want , or need, turn to a vision board, sometimes referred to as a dream board, yet they are the same thing. It is a great way to unlock those ideals you may have tucked away some time ago, or never fully realized. Either way, take the time to reconnect with yourself. And that most certainly, includes making your office work better for you!
