Decorating the Front Door with Shutters for Fall

Anyone can do this & I’m obsessed!

Sometimes the simplest things can make the biggest impact! With a good pair of shutters, you can create instant curb appeal. Try different paint colors. Play around with placement and even adorn them with hanging potted plants and lighting if you want. What’s more, these shutters can carry you into the Christmas season too. And they can be easily customized to fit your front door and house style. If you’re anything like me, they’ll be layered in paint colors and changed here and there over the years to come, further adding to the rustic charm. Be sure to follow me and let’s create something stunning together!

Below, I’ve rounded up my favorite front porch fall decorating ideas with… Shutters galore for everyone!

But wait, there’s even more…

color ideas, foliage trends, creative ways to decorate around the entry or porch and a ofcourse lil’ Feng Shui too!

Greens

Greens evoke wood elements in Feng Shui. They also easily carry you into Christmas and can be paired with whites, reds and many other traditional colors. Greens are best in east facing, traditionally for abundance and health. Greens are a strong choice for timeless charm and work great in boho stylings, as well as festive decorating. Try mint greens and sage greens for longevity, or chartreuse if you’re feeling a little wild for Halloween!

Blues

Blues mimic the water, they look great alongside stucco, brick, wood and vinyl siding. Blue front doors and shutters are placed best in the north and northeast facing entryways. Blues are energizing and uplifting. For Fall place white pumpkins with lanterns for a clean appeal. Want a pop of color? Try peachy and orange pumpkins and mums with green gourds feathering around those shutters. And country charm is easy to achieve with your choice of hydrangeas in baskets.

Oranges

Bold, zesty and bright are some of what comes to my mind when thinking of orange and peachy tones. Indicative of fire these bright colors are anything but dull! Best placed in the south facing entryway. These array of fiery colors are great for fall and Halloween, as well as fresh spring and summertime hues. Red, orange, purple all encourage creativity, passion and beneficial energy. And I’ll bet you’ll have cars slowing down, just to see what you do next!

Reds

Reds are fire tones too! Red is classic, great Feng Shui choice and never goes out of style. It’s said to attract good luck to those who live in the home. Red inspires a welcoming entrance with harmony. Want a true statement? Reds a good go-to for that. Red looks great with black fixtures, lit lanterns and sconces. White will absolutely pop with planters and pumpkins next to those red tones. And a variation of dark and lighter red colors creates a beautiful monochromatic statement!

Reds can come in many tones and don't forget a deep cherry red stain is a traditionally stunning choice for the entry door

Yellows

Pure sunlit yellows, soften and calm any setting. Utilize this color for southwest or northeast locations. Yellow symbolizes the earth; it’s used to stimulate calmness and stable energy in a home. Yellows can be bright to subdued, so they are very versatile, as well as can be used all year long. A yellow house just feels bright and happy and can bring on a smile. For those of us, who love yellow, but in smaller doses, shutters make the perfect idea! Pick yellow hue gourds and pumpkins with flowers, or try stacking mums for a vertical arrangement and carrying the yellow above and around your door for more impact. I love yellows with blues and grey tones.

Silver & Golds

Metallics aren’t always thought of as entryway colors. However, check out these hues of silver and golds and let me know what you think now! Imagine transforming into a Christmas celebration with twinkle lights and glistening metals for a glamorous transition into the new year. Metals work best on front doors and entryways that face west and northwest. Metal gives clarity, structure and security.
