Spring is calling you , it's time for a fresh start!

The air is changing, the birds are chirping and little buds are forming outside with fresh new growth. I love to use this time to reinvent things I already have. I move the furniture around, open the windows and get a little fresh perspective going! With the warmer season comes grilling, picnics and eating al fresco, it's a great time of year to redecorate your dining room!

Work With What You Have

Some of us cannot go out and buy something new whenever we want. I for one, have become really good at changing my rooms around with things I already have. But one of the most important things to consider is choosing items that feel good in the room. Feng Shui can help with the choosing. If you feel stuck, sadness and lonely choose a nurturing wood element. Perhaps a wooden tray on the table will help store clutter. Hang a basket on the wall and fill it with a faux hanging plant. Wood has warm and enduring essence that elevates the vibe in the room. It doesn't matter what size your home is to create a fresh Spring feel in your dining room. With smaller homes, the problem can lie in overcrowding and messy buildup around the table, or on chairs and floors. It's amazing how a small home can feel organized and clean one day and disheveled the next! Storage and organization are your best defense. When you do decorate, all the more reason to decide if the furnishings and accents truly spark pleasure or not. On the otherhand, a larger home struggles to feel warm and homey. The void of space can feel stark and the dining room can feel like a forgotten, unused space. Defining the seating area with a rug can help, as can comfortable seating and soft textiles. Remember, less is more, especially if you want that light and airy feel in the room!

Florals in the Dining Room

Fresh greens and blush pinks

Spring florals don’t have to be perfect, offset designs are striking and can even feel more authentically natural!

Florals in the dining room always elevate the mood! Try peach, yellow and pinks for spring.  Make a statement with one type of flower in a vase, for a monochromatic statement, or an assortment of colors. Heck, this can be the perfect time to deploy all the Bagua colors if you need an energy cleanser, stat! I love floating flowers in a bowl, or a single stem in an interesting vase for an unusual statement. The great thing is you can change it easily, add any color you would like and explore many new styles. I challenge you to go outside and find something you can take a clipping of to bring the outdoors in. It can be something in bloom or not, it can be a bundle of herbs, such as rosemary. A palm frond, or other tropical. Maybe a fern. Wherever you live will determine what you have at your disposal, but you really cannot go wrong here. Just make sure that your not allergic, or it's not a plant that will drop seeds and fluff and stuff...My son once carried in a handful of marsh willows and thought it was thrilling to trail the seeds through the house!Me, not so much...

What’s Your Style?

The Mood of the Room

Your Personal Style

The feeling of any room starts with air flow and ventilation, natural light and of course, color! Where does your dining room face, North? Look at the Bagua Map and add some of your personal style with color that represents the natural elements that you want to enhance. Beige and earth tones are always good base colors for complimentary dining room style. Earth tones feel relaxed and comfortable, they soothe worry and anxiety. I enjoy terracotta and peachy, pink  tones, especially in spring and summer. The rose colored tones remind me of beach days and sunsets that I wish would last forever! What color tones speak to you? The answer will have you adding your own personal style and the mood of the room will feel just right for spring!

Go For It!

Spring into action...See what I did there! My daughter is rolling her eyes right now, but I don't let it phase me. Mom's are supposed to say tacky things to get that teenage angst out. Lol! Who says you can't do this or that, in home decorating. Sometimes the most unexpected things make the coolest impact. Tile the wall instead of the floor. Why not? If this speaks to you, I say go for it & love it! I hope you feel empowered for spring and it carries you all the way into summer too!
